Vibrating screen: Configuration, Cost and Buyer Checklist

The key decision

Specify a vibrating screen from the feed distribution and the aggregate products required, including the difficult near-size fraction and moisture condition. Match deck area, media, motion and feeding to the separation task, then review support structure, conveyors and access. Compare accepted screened products within the whole circuit rather than a standalone feed rate. A representative material trial and a maintenance plan for media, bearings and drive components make quotations more useful.

Applications and production fit

List the saleable aggregate fractions and how they will be used, then characterize the feed reaching the screen. Include particle distribution, moisture, clay or sticky material and the variation caused by upstream crushing. Material close to the chosen aperture can be difficult to separate. A screen that suits a dry coarse product may not be the appropriate configuration for wet fine material in the same quarry.

Configuration choices to compare

Compare deck arrangement, media type, opening shape, motion and the proposed operating conditions as one system. Ask why the supplier selected that combination for your material. Wire, rubber and polyurethane options create different wear, opening and maintenance considerations. Clarify whether washing or special anti-blinding provisions are included. The offer should explain the route of each product and oversize stream instead of presenting deck count as the only selection decision.

Utilities, layout and site compatibility

Plan stable support, feed distribution across the screen and discharge transitions that avoid bottlenecks. A structural designer should review dynamic loads and interfaces for the specific installation. Include access for media changes and drive service, plus the power and any water supply. Define where dirty water and fine material will go if wet processing is proposed. Check that the surrounding conveyors can handle the agreed product flows.

Delivered project cost and scope

Include structure, chute liners, media sets, conveyors, electrical installation and commissioning in the project budget. Washing equipment and water treatment may be separate scope. Ask for wear assumptions tied to the aggregate and opening sizes, along with the availability of replacement panels. Compare the cost of downtime during media changes. A screen price without supports or discharge handling does not represent an installed aggregate-screening process.

Representative acceptance testing

Agree sampling locations and the method for checking each finished fraction before acceptance. Run representative feed and record moisture, throughput boundary and settings. Examine misplaced sizes, carryover and blinding rather than measuring only total feed mass. Include oversize recirculation where it belongs in the circuit. A short test on unusually clean, dry stone does not show what happens with your normal wet or variable quarry material.

Maintenance and operating handover

Service planning should cover media attachment, wear inspection, bearings, drive components and accessible lubrication points where specified. Ask how the machine is isolated and maintained under its operating instructions, and what lifting arrangements are needed for components. Keep screen-media specifications and settings in a maintenance record. If the quarry changes aggregate source or desired grading, review the process instead of assuming that the old deck selection remains suitable.

OEM/ODM and project customization

Define customization as a separate scope in the quotation. Configuration choices concern the equipment arrangement and operating requirements; OEM requests can include permitted branding, labels, manuals and packaging; ODM requests may involve engineering changes. Identify the party responsible for design, documentation and verification before agreeing to a change. A manufacturer reference photograph demonstrates a category or model family and does not establish that IndustryApex represents that brand or can relabel its product. Ask which changes are feasible for the proposed supplier, what sample or drawing approval is needed and how the change affects service parts, testing and delivery.

RFQ checklist for a comparable proposal

Send a concise project brief with the specific items below and attach drawings, samples or site information where available. Distinguish essential requirements from preferences so alternative offers remain comparable. Ask each bidder to return a configuration list, utility and installation boundary, relevant model documentation, acceptance plan and an itemized quotation. State the destination and who will review applicable local requirements for the exact offered configuration. Identify exclusions, recurring consumables, training, warranty conditions and after-sales responsibilities before comparing totals. If important data is unavailable, mark it as an assumption to verify instead of allowing different bidders to silently solve different projects.

Frequently asked questions

How many decks should a vibrating screen have?

Start from the fractions to be separated and the downstream circuit. Ask the supplier to show where each product and oversize stream goes. More decks do not automatically solve difficult separation if feed distribution, media or moisture conditions are unsuitable.

Why does moisture affect vibrating screen selection?

Wet or sticky material can change flow and promote blinding. Provide representative feed conditions and discuss the proposed media, washing or other process provisions. A rating obtained on dry aggregate should not be assumed to apply to a different wet feed.

Which screen media should I choose?

Compare wire, rubber or polyurethane by the separation task, opening geometry, wear and replacement method. Request the reasoning for your material and a product-grading trial. Avoid treating one media type as universally best for all decks.

How should screening performance be accepted?

Sample the specified outputs under representative feed conditions and check grading, misplaced sizes and blinding by an agreed method. Include recirculation and disclose the measurement boundary. Total feed rate alone does not establish the quality of saleable aggregate.

Can I request OEM or ODM customization for a vibrating screen?

Yes, include the requested configuration, branding or engineering changes in your project inquiry. Feasibility, ownership of the design, validation, documentation, minimum quantities and delivery terms need confirmation with the proposed supplier. The referenced manufacturer model is an example, not an OEM commitment from that brand.

What information is needed to request a vibrating screen quotation?

Send the category-specific checklist on this page, the destination, your operating conditions and available drawings or samples. Ask for an itemized complete project scope and a representative acceptance plan. Flag missing input data so quotations state the same assumptions rather than appearing comparable while covering different configurations.
