Scissor Lift Table: Selection, Cost and RFQ Guide

The key decision

A scissor lift table should be chosen for a defined goods-handling or workstation task, including the load footprint and how it arrives on the platform. It is not automatically suitable for lifting people. Specify maximum mass, center of gravity and whether wheels, pallet runners or fixtures concentrate load on a small area. State the minimum and maximum transfer heights and the required working positions between them. Mobile tables and anchored production tables require different site arrangements.

Define the lifting task and permitted load

A scissor lift table should be chosen for a defined goods-handling or workstation task, including the load footprint and how it arrives on the platform. It is not automatically suitable for lifting people. Specify maximum mass, center of gravity and whether wheels, pallet runners or fixtures concentrate load on a small area. State the minimum and maximum transfer heights and the required working positions between them. Mobile tables and anchored production tables require different site arrangements. A nominal uniformly distributed capacity should not be treated as proof of suitability for an off-center machine assembly or repeated rolling loads.

Specify platform, stroke and operating duty

Ask the manufacturer to review the actual load distribution, platform dimensions and lifting stroke together. Define whether the load can move while elevated and what retains it during transfer. A low-profile table, a pit installation and a mobile scissor table can solve similar height problems through different loading methods. Record cycles per hour, lift travel and long raised dwell periods so the hydraulic and drive proposal matches duty. Include platform finish, guides and any fixture interfaces in the design. Oversized platforms and special attachments need a reviewed configuration rather than assuming the original rating remains applicable.

Review the floor and transfer interface

Show approach paths, pallet-truck access, conveyor alignment and the platform’s full travel envelope. Have the responsible installer review floor capacity, pit details, anchoring and drainage where required. Define control positions, interlocks with connected machinery and the guarding or other protection needed around moving parts. Reserve a safe maintenance access arrangement that does not depend on unsupported raised hydraulics. Include electrical supply and the environment, particularly wet or dusty work. A site drawing should show where the operator stands and where material waits, since these positions determine whether the table fits the actual workflow.

Budget beyond the bare lift mechanism

Include the table, platform, hydraulic unit, controls, fixtures, protection and loading accessories in the quotation. Add floor or pit work, anchoring, cable routing and commissioning to the installed cost. Ask for spare hydraulic seals, hoses and switches and for documented maintenance access. Compare lifting cycle and handling labor using a defined production task rather than a universal ergonomic saving. Shipping and lifting access can affect installation effort for a large table. Keep responsibility clear for connection to conveyors or production fixtures, because a standalone table price often excludes the controls needed for a coordinated transfer.

Verify heights and transfer with the intended load

Acceptance should use the agreed load distribution and confirm minimum height, maximum height, position stability and the required transfer sequence. Record lifting and lowering behavior over the specified duty, including normal dwell. Check the platform’s alignment with adjacent equipment and inspect fixtures or retainers. Protective functions, emergency controls and maintenance supports should be reviewed by the responsible team. Compare the delivered hydraulic and control components with the final drawings. A single lift under a centered demonstration load does not establish suitability for an off-center assembly, frequent cycles or rolling transfers in the buyer’s work area.

Request custom dimensions with engineered evidence

Provide load drawings, platform requirements, installation details and the control sequence with the RFQ. OEM branding and document language can be separated from ODM engineering of a special platform, fixture, pit or transfer interface. Require revised load and duty evidence for nonstandard designs. Agree maintenance instructions, spare identifiers and ownership of custom drawings. Clarify goods-only use or any separately engineered application in the final scope. Manufacturer illustrations show a lift-table family; the exact supplied arrangement should be checked against your load, installation and destination requirements before commissioning.

  1. Load mass footprint and center of gravity
  2. Platform length width and surface
  3. Minimum and maximum working height
  4. Manual or powered movement
  5. Stationary mobile or pit installation
  6. Cycles per hour and dwell
  7. Loading method and rolling loads
  8. Floor capacity anchors and access
  9. Controls interlocks and perimeter protection
  10. Power and environmental conditions
  11. Maintenance access and spare hydraulics
  12. OEM arrangement and acceptance requirements

For OEM / ODM requests, include the branding, packaging, configuration or engineering changes you need, initial and annual quantities, target market, sample approval and acceptance requirements. Feasibility and commercial scope are confirmed for the specific project.

Frequently asked questions

What application data should define a lift table?

Define load mass, footprint, center of gravity, concentrated wheel loads, minimum and maximum height and operating cycles. State the goods-handling task explicitly; a lift table is not automatically suitable for lifting people or moving while raised.

How does load distribution affect the configuration?

Off-center or concentrated loads can change the suitable platform and lift configuration. Ask the manufacturer to assess the exact footprint, fixtures and loading method; do not apply a uniformly distributed rating to an unreviewed rolling or asymmetric load.

What installation details need to be checked?

Check floor capacity, anchoring or pit details, transfer heights, loading access and the full movement envelope. Define controls, interlocks, protection and maintenance supports, and assign site electrical, drainage and structural work before approving the layout.

Which costs belong in a lift-table project?

Include table, platform, hydraulic unit, controls, fixtures, protection and loading accessories. Add pit or floor work, wiring, commissioning and spares. Compare the complete transfer task and duty, including maintenance access and any conveyor-control integration.

How should lifting and transfer be accepted?

Test the approved load distribution through required heights, dwell and transfers. Verify alignment, stability and repeated duty, and check protective functions and maintenance support with the responsible team, retaining component identities and approved installation drawings.

Can platform size and control behavior be customized?

Yes. Request platform dimensions, fixtures, control sequences, OEM branding and languages with load drawings. Nonstandard designs need manufacturer load and duty evidence and agreed transfer trials; confirm goods-only or any separately engineered use in the scope.
