A CNC machine tending FAT and SAT plan should define the offered configuration, representative parts, inspection records, interface checks and handover responsibilities. Separate what can be demonstrated before shipment from conditions dependent on the installed site, and agree how unresolved items are corrected and accepted.

Agree acceptance while the scope is still being defined
Identify the exact parts, machining stages, machine and tooling covered by the proposal. State the point at which a part is counted as accepted and the drawings and inspection methods used. Record the tasks that remain manual.
Ask both parties to agree the test boundary before equipment is built. An acceptance document written after the demonstration may conceal different expectations about output, quality, changeovers or integration responsibility.
Use factory acceptance to record the demonstrated configuration
Request an equipment and tooling schedule, approved drawings and representative samples. Ask the factory demonstration to record loading results, completed-part inspection and the operation of included peripherals.
Identify any simulated machine condition or customer equipment that is unavailable at the factory. Retain the actual setup, software and interface versions with the result. Do not describe an animation or a demonstration on unrelated parts as acceptance evidence for the offered application.
Keep site-dependent conditions explicit in SAT
Identify what can only be assessed after installation, including the actual machine interface, site layout, utilities and local material flow. Agree responsibilities for preparation, commissioning and records.
Compare the installed configuration with the approved factory configuration and record changes before concluding the site test. Factory approval should not silently waive unresolved site conditions. Ask the project parties to define the treatment of delays or incomplete prerequisites in the commercial documents.
Define recovery and safety evidence with qualified personnel
Ask qualified project personnel to specify the complete-cell assessment, safety validation and controlled recovery demonstrations. Include the actual operator, setup and maintenance tasks in that scope.
Keep production acceptance records separate from the evidence required for a safe and approved installation. A video showing a normal cycle does not establish how a missing part, rejected part or interrupted sequence is handled. Request the agreed response and responsibility for each included case without prescribing settings or unsafe tests.
Close the project with usable records and open-item control
Request the approved configuration, drawings, manuals, program backups, tooling list, maintenance information and training record. Name the persons responsible for acceptance and corrections.
Classify unresolved items by the agreed project process and define how evidence of completion will be retained. Review the conditions for later part, fixture or software changes. IndustryApex engineers can help define the equipment and handover scope; acceptance and commercial commitments must be recorded in the project documents.
Buyer worksheet: what must be written down?
| Decision input | Evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Configuration identity | Equipment, tooling, drawings and software records |
| Product result | Part family, approved samples and inspection method |
| Factory limitation | Unavailable site equipment and simulated conditions |
| Installed site scope | Interfaces, utilities, preparation and commissioning owners |
| Handover and open items | Documents, training, correction evidence and sign-off |

Frequently asked questions
Does FAT replace site acceptance?
Agree the limits of the factory demonstration and identify conditions requiring the installed machine and site. Record both scopes in the project documents rather than assuming factory approval covers every site-dependent result.
What samples should be used at acceptance?
Agree representative and difficult parts, incoming variation, approved drawings and inspection methods for the offered application. Retain sample identities and the demonstrated configuration with the test record.
Is a normal-cycle video enough for acceptance?
Use a video as supporting evidence within the agreed test plan. Request inspection results, interface and configuration records, qualified safety validation and defined recovery demonstrations for the included application.
What happens when a part family changes later?
Apply the agreed change-review process to tooling, interfaces, programs and acceptance evidence. A previously accepted configuration does not automatically approve new parts, fixtures or operating tasks.
