Agricultural fertigation skid: Selection, Configuration and RFQ Guide

The key decision

Plan an agricultural fertigation skid from irrigation flow, water chemistry and the crop nutrition programme. Match dosing, mixing, measurement and control interfaces with the existing water system, then verify repeatable delivery using the farm's approved nutrient and backflow-protection design. Test representative recipes at minimum and maximum zone demand, measuring dose and solution properties at agreed points. Demonstrate calibration, flushing and fault responses without applying unapproved solution to crops. Record water chemistry, stock concentrations, flow and controller settings so delivery evidence remains reproducible. Submit the intended configuration and any OEM/ODM changes for project-specific feasibility review.

Define the nutrition and water duty

Provide crop, growing medium, irrigation zones, water analysis and the agronomist's nutrient programme. The skid meters an approved formulation rather than determining crop nutrition itself. Include seasonal flow variation and the point where the treated solution enters the irrigation network.

Check chemical compatibility and stock solutions

List fertilizers, acids or other permitted solutions with concentrations and storage conditions. Materials and dosing channels must suit them without unintended reactions. Keep incompatible stocks and mixing responsibilities explicit; a photograph of several tanks does not establish that every chemical can share one manifold.

Match dosing to minimum and peak flow

Provide irrigation flow and required dosing range for each channel. Accuracy and stable mixing need assessment at low as well as high demand. A maximum injector capacity does not prove useful control for a small zone or a very dilute recipe.

Specify measurement and calibration

Define flow, EC, pH or other required measurements and their locations with the agronomist and process designer. Confirm sensor range, compensation and calibration procedures. A controller display alone is not evidence that the solution delivered to distant emitters matches the intended recipe.

Integrate irrigation and protection controls

Identify the existing controller, valve sequence and command interfaces. Define no-flow, empty-stock and abnormal-measurement responses and the engineered backflow arrangement. Standard dosing capability should not be assumed to include every protective valve, interlock or approved water-source protection measure.

Plan flushing and service access

Provide clean-water flushing, drainage, spill containment and access to pumps, filters and sensors. Obtain wetted-part and seal identifiers for the actual chemicals. Maintenance needs to restore calibration and prevent cross-contamination rather than merely keep the dosing pump mechanically running.

Compare a complete agricultural fertigation skid scope

Decision Information to compare
Define the nutrition and water duty Crop/medium, water analysis, nutrient programme, zones and flow range
Check chemical compatibility and stock solutions Chemical/concentration list, compatible materials, stock tanks and mixing constraints
Match dosing to minimum and peak flow Per-channel dose range, minimum/peak irrigation flow and mixing duty
Specify measurement and calibration Flow/EC/pH sensing, measurement points, calibration and sampling method
Integrate irrigation and protection controls Controller interface, valve sequence, fault responses and backflow design boundary
Plan flushing and service access Flushing/drainage, containment, wetted parts, sensors and calibration after service

Plan installation and access

Qualified irrigation, electrical and chemical-handling personnel should coordinate the skid, stock tanks, water-source protection and dosing connection. Verify available pressure and flow, support and containment. Commission sensors and dosing channels with the approved procedure before connecting the skid to the crop irrigation programme.

Agree acceptance evidence before ordering

Test representative recipes at minimum and maximum zone demand, measuring dose and solution properties at agreed points. Demonstrate calibration, flushing and fault responses without applying unapproved solution to crops. Record water chemistry, stock concentrations, flow and controller settings so delivery evidence remains reproducible.

Define OEM/ODM engineering boundaries

OEM channel layouts, tank interfaces and approved control integration can be reviewed. ODM wetted materials, dosing or measurement changes require chemical and process validation. A reference dosing-unit image does not establish stock, manufacturer agency or guaranteed crop yield from an unverified fertigation design.
